AdventHealth: Modernizing IAM and Addressing the Multi-Persona Problem

In this customer video testimonial, AdventHealth’s Identity Management Manager describes the complexity of their identity environment and how they relied upon Radiant Logic to help modernize their IAM ecosystem. With a legacy IAM solution and 190,000 identities spread across employees, contingent workers, and non-employed providers, AdventHealth used the RadiantOne platform to handle multiple personas in a very graceful way. They’re now considering Radiant Logic as a foundational component of their Zero Trust program.

AdventHealth is a faith-based organization based in Altamonte Springs, Florida. We have about one hundred and ninety thousand identities that we manage. That’s a makeup of one hundred and ten thousand employees, about forty thousand contingent workers, and about another forty thousand non-employed providers.

Initially, we were on a legacy product that really didn’t have much innovation, and so we had to find new products that could help us accelerate and deliver on the identity management needs within our organization. That was kind of the primary driver for some of that.

We also have a very complex environment in the sense of the three different types of users that we have. Being that they’re in three distinct sources, it also challenged us in being able to create a singular identity across the spectrum. That was just a few of the challenges that we had as we looked to the market and started to implement Radiant Logic.

Identity is a unique space in the sense that you can’t do something informed or automated without data. Taking the lens of data first, then we figure out the IGA side of things — that was the approach. Radiant Logic changes the game for us from an IAM perspective by being that data-first platform.

Through Radiant, it’s really offered us the ability to handle multiple personas in a very graceful way — in the sense that you’re an employee and you’re a provider. While the data segments are different, it’s allowed us to inform our IGA product, which doesn’t handle multiple personas gracefully. It has allowed us to facilitate all of the necessary access and entitlements that need to be provisioned into downstream systems like our Epic EMR. At that layer, it really affords us the ability to span all of the necessary jobs that a person may have within an organization.

Our CISO has the desire to essentially bring all of our systems, all of our hospitals, and our practices into a Zero Trust model. As we look to the future of what our Zero Trust program looks like, Radiant Logic is a foundational aspect — allowing us to simplify our caregivers’ experience. They don’t have to worry about the technology. They just have to worry about what’s at the bedside, whether it’s someone’s sick mother, sick father, or sick child. And really helping us drive our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
