Identity is a data management problem. Plain and simple. I’ve been in the IAM space for 25 plus years, started IAM programs, ran IAM programs anywhere from an engineer all the way up through director.

We’re managing accounts, we’re managing attributes on those accounts and making sure all of that is correct plays into security, compliance, operations, all of it because if we don’t have that down pat, our operational processes are going to be wrong. That will lead to compliance issues, which means that we have people that have access to things that they shouldn’t because we’re making wrong decisions based on wrong attributes. We’re not doing anybody any favors when that core underlying identity data is incorrect.

So I’ve seen Radiant Logic, on my consulting side on one of the companies that I actually was supporting. And they actually used Radiant Logic to collapse several different LDAP directories into the core LDAP directory that they used. This was used as the core identity store.

They had custom processes built around that to handle all their standard IGA processes. They decided to leave Radiant Logic in place as the actual core store because of really two key things:

One, it made replication amongst their different campuses fast and reliable. And the second one is it made managing, um, and adding and removing schema attributes much more streamlined than other directories that they were using in the past.

The difference between a partner and vendor is usually one way versus two ways. We’ve definitely had a two-way relationship with Radiant Logic over the 20 plus years that I’ve been involved dealing with their executives, with support, engineers that have come out and helped us do deployments.

Over those 20 years, they’ve been one of the better organizations to deal with, both from support, operational, licensing, all the way through just having a conversation and felt feeling that you hear us.

Radiant Logic brings not only data visibility, data management reporting capabilities to manage the underlying identity data, but they do so as a partner being able to help us when we need help, to guide us when we need some guidance, to be able to listen to us when we think that there is a better way to do something.

All through the, the past 25 years, it’s been a pleasure working with Radiant Logic and it has actually led to several successes that I’ve had both on the consulting side and on the corporate side.
