Migrate and Modernize Your Legacy Directory with Federated Identity and Virtualization

Using the power of virtualization, you can jumpstart your identity integration/cloud migration initiative at the tactical level with a “legacy” directory migration/replacement project. Join Doug Simmons of TechVision Research and Wade Ellery of Radiant Logic to find out how.

Large enterprises and organizations often have complex identity infrastructures already in place, with identity data spread across many heterogeneous data sources—multiple AD domains and forests, other LDAP directories, databases, applications, web services/APIs, along with a multitude of applications that rely on those sources. Such infrastructures can be expensive to maintain and difficult to evolve. Yet, there is pressure to evolve coming from many sectors: Governance and Administration initiatives, cloud migration and integration, business initiatives such as mergers & acquisitions, and digital transformation.

Furthermore, many such enterprises and organizations have deployed extensive IAM-centric security services for internal and external users leveraging then-popular LDAP directory solutions such as Sun/iPlanet, CA eTrust, Novell e-Directory, IBM Directory Services and Oracle Internet Directory. Several of these directory platforms have reached end-of-life status by the vendors, with many organizations running unsupported directories that undoubtedly play crucial roles in their information security environments. Others, though still supported, have become overly expensive and unfit-for-purpose due to the rapidly changing application landscape. Coupled with this, organizations are in the throes of migrating decades-old Microsoft Active Directory architectures to Microsoft Azure AD (AAD), which creates a significant amount of work to ‘clean up’ the often poorly governed AD structure before it can be migrated to AAD. In summary, many organizations are now faced with significant directory modernization challenges.

Here’s the good news. Using virtualization, this daunting process can be jumpstarted and mastered with a more tactical opportunity such as the migration and replacement of a legacy directory.

This webinar shows how RadiantOne makes it easy to analyze and inventory all your existing dependencies, model new hierarchies to meet expanding business requirements, and support a seamless transition that protects your investments, while keeping your users happy and all your apps accessible.

Use RadiantOne to:

  • Discover the dependencies: RadiantOne reveals the connections between your existing apps and the directory system, so you can migrate seamlessly. You can migrate at your own pace, while your authentication and authorization systems keep humming along.
  • Improve the system: By reverse-engineering your existing directory schemas and hierarchies, RadiantOne gives you the ability to reorganize your system in a way that makes sense for your business today. You can model the desired target directory to enable diverse views of data to accommodate different client apps.
  • Address custom data requirements: Give your applications exactly the view of identity they need. Customizations and computations can be done at the RadiantOne layer, enabling applications to focus on the services they provide. Each application can have its own “virtual view” with specific mappings, computations, and attributes.
  • Improve security granularity: Enforce finer-grained access controls by utilizing authoritative identity attributes that may exist in multiple back-end repositories. RadiantOne FID enhances the ability to implement attribute-based access controls (ABAC) to better ensure only the right people (or things) have access to the right applications and related data.
  • Add lasting agility to your identity infrastructure. RadiantOne FID empowers you to migrate away from aging LDAP seamlessly while offering a flexible identity platform for new initiatives.
