The RadiantOne Access Router provides load balancing or failover between multiple directories that contain the same structure. The directories can be virtual directories or any other LDAP-accessible server. Working at the "packet" level, the router adds very little overhead to the system. The Access Router is an excellent way to aggregate throughput from many different servers.
In the event of a hardware or connection failure, the RadiantOne Access Router automatically switches to a redundant or standby server to ensure uninterrupted data delivery.

Load balancing options of the RadiantOne access router guarantees a high level of scalability. LDAP traffic is distributed efficiently so that individual servers are not overwhelmed by sudden increases in activity. Load balancing is a critical component of high availability and fault tolerance between directories.
RadiantOne VDS has built-in replication capabilities to create and maintain multiple instances of VDS. Using this this feature in combination with the access router makes load balancing and scalability quick and easy.
Fail-over can also be configured at the directory data source, to ensure data delivery to the VDS. Multiple routers can be configured as needed.
