It feels like the end of an era, doesn’t it? Many innovative IdM companies have merged into larger—and sometimes slower moving—entities. We’ve seen the eclipse of Sun and even Burton is now part of a bigger group. And while some make the case for GRC, governance and compliance alone won’t put us back on a path of strong economic growth.
Changing the Way We Think About Identity
Dig a little deeper, though, and you’ll see the early signs of a new identity renaissance. In an era marked by recession and retrenchment, identity emerges as the heart of everything from security to social media. From Facebook to LinkedIn to Twitter, the individual is central, extending to groups and organically forming each user’s social graph. But what if these qualities could extend to the enterprise? What if you could manage your employees, customers, and vendors through a social interface, linking actors with their activities, and identities to relevant application contexts?
A New Way to Link Social Identity and Business Context
Imagine using your existing infrastructure to access the multiple relationships between identities in the social graph of your enterprise. (After all, what is a group or a role but a social graph as seen from the security side?) Well, we have a new application that will do just that:
- First, by implementing a presentation layer on top of your virtualized identity infrastructure, you can convert your Active Directory, LDAP, or other existing identity data sources, such as SQL and web services, into a Facebook-like interface.
- Then you simply link this presentation layer through our virtual join engine to any application context—such as SalesForce—and you have a context-based collaboration and search engine that your employees can use securely within SharePoint or any J2EE portal.
With this new interface layer, you can link identity to context, turning identity into a secure business service. How’s that for an identity renaissance?
This new interface layer —a sort of “Radiantbook” for the enterprise—is in the final stages of development right now:
- Get a sneak peek: We’ll demo a preview version at the TEC Conference on April 25.
- See the real deal: We’ll unveil the final product at Catalyst San Diego on July 26.
- Download it free: Customers currently using RadiantOne v5.2 will be able to download this new application free of charge.
These are exciting times…stay tuned for more details!
