The University began using Active Directory as a department-level tool to manage users within their own divisions. As time passed the need to centralize all users became necessary for security, compliance, and to reduce administration costs.
RadiantOne was implemented to establish a central user repository, enrich user attributes in AD, and synchronize passwords across multiple-AD forests with different schemas. Northwestern was able to comply with FERPA and University data policies to guarantee privacy that was not possible with direct AD bind requests or establishing trust between forests. |
