Evolve, Transform, or Die: What’s Next for Identity Management

It’s new vs. old these days: the cloud is increasing pressure to adopt federation and newer access and authorization protocols, such as SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect, and Oauth 2.0. Scalability and flexibility are absolute requirements in today’s brave new world, which could signal a shift to new modes such as graph APIs. Meanwhile, existing identity, directory, and provisioning infrastructures are rapidly aging as maintenance costs spiral out of control. So it’s not surprising that Gartner analyst Ian Glazer’s recent video, “Killing Identity Management in Order to Save It,” stirred up such a lively conversation among experts on which standards and protocols will die out and which will power the future.

Is it time for enterprises to put LDAP and AD out to pasture and adopt new means of managing identity? Or can we adapt these existing infrastructures to meet evolving needs—and how? It’s not easy to make sense of this tension. What needs to be retired? What new services need to be deployed? What can—and should—evolve? These are essential questions for every identity professional to understand. In this webinar, Ian will dig deep into the current issues and trends driving the future of identity and access management. And Radiant Logic—the company that set the standard for identity and context virtualization—will explore ways to build an identity system that meets the challenge of the cloud, while enabling SSO and federation. You’ll also get a sneak peek at Radiant’s vision for the next big leap forward in identity storage: how to reinvigorate LDAP through Big Data and NoSQL.

Webinar: Challenges in Consumer-Facing Identity
The challenges of consumer-facing identity management, access management, and authentication differ in ways subtle and dramatic from those of employee-facing systems. Individuals are free agents on the Internet, and they will vote with their feet if you offer an inconvenient or disconnected online experience. At the same time, security and fraud risks take on increased complexity in light of banking, retail, and social interactions. Together with Radiant Logic, Forrester analyst Eve Maler discusses the challenges and solutions in managing consumer identity, taking a journey all the way from the user experience to backend account management. Listeners will come away with practical insight on issues including:

  • How to create a consistent login across multiple channels.
  • How to handle a user who’s both a consumer and an employee.
  • How to deploy cross-domain SSO within your brand.

Webinar: Building a Future-Ready Infrastructure with Federation and Federated Identity Presentation
As an identity management professional, your mission is to deliver services like single sign-on and secure authorization at the fast pace your business demands. How can you achieve these goals, though, when an outdated identity infrastructure is holding you back? Scattered identity data sources serving a diverse ecosystem of applications slow deployments and can make it impossible to provide increasingly-standard services like SSO to your users. Fortunately, there is a way to overcome these challenges without a costly infrastructure overhaul: a federated identity service.

In this webinar, Gartner analyst and Research VP Gregg Kreizman will explore the emerging forces surrounding web access management and federation, and will discuss how enterprises are using traditional and emerging methods to resolve challenges around cloud applications and federation. Jordan Phillips of Radiant Logic will explain how, by employing a federated identity layer to support their security means, businesses can grant themselves the flexibility to leverage users across active directory, LDAP, and database repositories, and speedily complete new projects, deliver SSO, and provide strong access management.

Speakers: Gregg Kreizman of Gartner and Jordan Phillips of Radiant Logic.

Webinar: Affordable SSO Presentation
Extending single sign-on across your portal and cloud applications is no longer an option—it’s an imperative. A complete open source IAM platform offers enterprises a proven flexible and lightweight alternative to brand-named suites for federation, authorization, entitlement and SSO—but there’s just one problem. Identity data and attributes are scattered across many directories and data silos using a mix of proprietary formats. This means that you’re faced with the choice sinking months of manpower and piles of cash into a custom infrastructure overhaul—or does it?

In this webinar, market leaders Radiant Logic, ForgeRock, and Syntegrity Networks will discuss how their solutions work in tandem to deliver a complete WAM and federation solution, at a fraction of the cost of brand name approaches. Combining the very best in open source WAM with advanced identity virtualization unifies your identity silos into a federated identity store acting as a virtual LDAP. This enables you to securely connect to your cloud apps or portal, without disrupting what you’ve already built. Join us to learn more.

Extend SSO and Federation for Your SiteMinder Portal—for Less Time, Hassle, and Money

Webinar: Extend SSO and Federation for Your SiteMinder Portal Presentation
When you first deployed your SiteMinder portal, it was secure and easy to use. But business doesn’t stand still—your portal has grown and changed, and it’s getting tougher to extend SSO to new populations (even with federation), refine authorization policy, or expand portal access. For SiteMinder to work its magic at the security layer, it needs access to a coherent, logical, and comprehensive identity system. But there’s an ongoing need to integrate new user populations, groups, and applications—and managing this heterogeneous identity layer is beyond SiteMinder’s scope. Your portal’s evolution is hindered by the increasing complexity of today’s identity infrastructures—and the mounting costs of making changes.

A federated identity service rationalizes your infrastructure, giving SiteMinder a single virtual identity access point. This virtualization layer shields your portal from backend complexity, delivering a unified view of identity at the portal level and enabling custom authentication at the local internal level—without the risk, hassle, and expense of custom coding. This webinar will explore how a federated identity service based on virtualization allows enterprises to leverage existing identity stores and unify profiles across security domains to support federation, extend SSO, and enrich authorization policies. Radiant Logic’s Elle Griffin will explore how virtualization enables your portal to grow with your business, while Coreblox President Todd Clayton will offer insight based on real-life customer deployments.

Speakers: Elle Griffin of Radiant Logic and Todd Clayton of CoreBlox.

Webinar: Bridging On-Premise Identities with Web-Based and Cloud Applications Presentation
Gone are the days when your identity infrastructure—and your applications—were securely stored behind your firewall. Going forward, every application you deploy will be web-based—so that means the population you reach could be inside their cubicle, or across the world, and the cloud environment will boost this demand even more. Meanwhile, your customers and employees don’t care where their identities are stored—they want one authentication system, and one single sign-on. But it’s hard to harness the cloud’s advantages—let alone offer SSO— when your identities are scattered across multiple Active Directory domains and forests, databases, and applications. You need an identity hub to federate securely and grant access to web and cloud-based applications, but the critical question is where to host it. If you’re starting from scratch with a greenfield deployment, it makes sense for identity to be hosted in the cloud, but that’s not the case for modern enterprises with extensive investments in on-premise repositories.

Gartner’s Mark Diodati will consider on-premise identity management versus hosted solutions, and look at a variety of use cases for identity bridges. Elle Griffin of Radiant Logic will discuss why deploying a federated identity service is an important step for rationalizing and managing a chaotic identity infrastructure behind the firewall, while also enabling a secure connection to cloud and federated applications.

Delivering a Context Service through Virtualization: In this second of two webinars, Radiant Logic’s Elle Griffin and Kuppinger-Cole analyst Dave Kearns will explore how a context service provides enhanced segmentation and personalization, better customer service, and quick ROI for both security and CDI initiatives. But what is context, and how do you extract it from existing application silos and represent it in a uniform way? We’ll see how model-driven virtualization is the technology at the heart of an identity and context service. Building a global data model supports smarter integration and synchronization, while avoiding custom-coded, one-off solutions. Hierarchical or graph–based organization within the model reveals how objects are related, allowing you to see contextual information across many data silos.

Delivering an Identity Service through Virtualization: In the first of two webinars, Radiant Logic’s Lauren Selby and Kuppinger-Cole analyst Dave Kearns will explore what we can learn from existing directory deployments, as well as the virtualization technology that can renew and revitalize the identity infrastructure. The directory introduced key capabilities that we can’t abandon, but its centralized and rigid system of identity doesn’t match the needs of today’s applications. Modern enterprises are scattered, distributed, and have a variety of locally-controlled authoritative sources—yet at the same time, many identity representations and their unique attributes are best managed locally, within these specialized sources.
